These are not set in stone and are situation dependent, so there are good times ones and things going to shit ones…

We are many people all in one and if our negativity or fear are forcing our hand with imagining better then we have to side step to looking at our story.

My great-grandmother was born in New Zealand to a Swedish seaman who jumped ship there. Her mother had died when she was 2 and even though her father remarried, her step- mother was not particularly kind. She ended up becoming pregnant at 18, having the baby out of wedlock. She moved to Australia with her daughter, my grandmother, and married when her daughter was 8. My grandmother was fostered out to live with two genteel spinster sisters, Miss Day and Miss Day.

For her I have imagined what it must have been like to be sent to these women. The abandonment…? Certainly as an adult she was passionate, capricious, tenacious, but would intermittently take to bed, sometimes for weeks.

Manga boy loses it then feels terrible...

This exhibit is still evolving but will have two 10 year old boys standing back to back. One is in full flight of having an angry outburst ( angry, shouting, defiant and oppositional) in class and the second is moments after this when he has observed everyone’s reaction to him and settled down…shame guilt and rejection. This current sketch is very basic, but I will re work the 2 boys in a crazy manga style, once I have worked out how to do that…

A 2-piece work looking at how anger and aggression are often used to mask feelings of sadness and vulnerability, particularly in young boys.

I considered this work after working in a youth detention centre and seeing that aggression and violence were often a defense against feelings of sadness and vulnerability. With the garments I will draw on cultural pictures of threat and aggression  such as tattoos. Tattoos also can be a strong representation of manhood for young boys to identify with.

I thing I’ll put him in a more aggressive silhouette. After all, that is the first thing that people will recognise…

Cette exposition montrera une jeune fille de 10 porte une robe magnifique papillon fabriqué à partir de centaines de papillons fabriqués à partir de fil métallique argenté et bleu. Celles-ci représentent la beauté et la légèreté que la jeune fille se sent comme elle imagine qu’elle peut voler. Le cube sur lequel elle se montrera des images de référence qu’elle a dans la tête quand elle sent ce sentiment comme la recherche dans le visage de sa mère comme sa mère est souriant et plaisant dans son.

This exhibition will show a young girl of 10 wearing a beautiful butterfly dress crafted out of hundreds of butterflies made out of silvery and blue metallic thread. These represent the beauty and lightness that the girl feels as she imagines that she can fly. The cube on which she stands will show reference images she has in her head when she senses this feeling such as looking into her mother’s face as her mother is smiling and delighting in her.

Cela montre un garçon debout de 12 ans dans la veste d’inspiration orientale et un pantalon qui sont conçus sur les différentes nuances de l’indigo en laine fine et soie pour évoquer un sentiment de douceur et de confort. Ces couleurs représentent l’eau, utilisez la conception traditionnelle japonaise pour symboliser cela et représentent la sensation corporelle de calme complet quand il est dans l’eau.
